I just finished doing a standard install of Natty 32bit off the alternate (text based) install CD. I picked "encrypted LVM", went with the defaults, with Natty as the sole OS for the whole 250gig...

If anybody else comes across this problem, the solution (tested in Lucid and Maverick so far) is to take the instructions at:

Ah. 'Kay, so it wasn't a Lucid PW after all, it was a T-bird PW.
Cool. Thanks.
In trying to set up SMTP for Thunderbird, I made a mistake in the password, typed the wrong one in, and hit the checkbox to have Lucid remember it. Now it will report a password failure BUT won't...
Typos in commands make this article worthless. DO NOT USE UNTIL FIXED, FOLKS!!!
I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as "sesseion" but worse, it means he hasn't tested these exact commands. DO...
Folks, I'm tearing my hair out here.
xawtv worked when I first started with a clean install of Intrepid 32bit standard desktop. Got a good signal out of the camera, kewl.
I then followed these...
Cool, thanks. I've now done an upgrade to Jaunty beta from the working Intrepid install, and everything is still working (and yeah, I still use that card).
I just double-checked /etc/ppp/options...
I've been a Gnome guy for as long as I've been a Linux guy at all, and managed to get what seems to be a fairly solid KDE build going via the ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-experimental repo in...

I have Intrepid, and two WiFi adapters - one laptop internal broadcom at Eth1 with normal restricted drivers, another with a Realteck chipset, WLAN1 on a USB port.

I'm wrestling with this nasty thing now after having lost my dead-simple-and-working USB720 device.
I'm on Verizon's version of the card and Ubuntu Hardy. After much struggle I've got a working...
So I got hands on a new lappy - a low-end Dell 1525 from Beast Buy. It's now a true "Windows Virgin": never even booted Vista, went straight to Ubuntu.

Y'all will love this.

The REASON I'm running the server kernel is that Hardy has a persistent bug in some systems causing random freezups...in my case every three-four hours on average. Proper bug reports have been filed...

The lack of a search engine in this forum is a major, major problem.
I tried a particular search whereby I'm looking for two keywords together:
pandora
streamripper
ALL attempts to get listings that contain ONLY both terms fail.
I tried "advanced search"...
For me, this was a disaster. Dunno why, but access to external disks became unstable, copy operations either failed or gave "permission denied" type errors.
Now automount is broken, both in the...
