    I have an ATI X1400 (series R5xx).

    Is there anybody who managed to make it work in ubuntu karmic koala using S-video on a TV?

    If you do have an X1400, you have 3 options:

    - wait for an open driver without that bug (probably it won't happen)

    - wait for a proprietary driver (when that will happen, it will be probably...

    That shoud work, depending on what ATI card you have.
    For example, it does not work if you have ATI X1400.

    Nothing yet. New Ubuntu is so cooler than previous versions, but I can't use it because of my stupid ATI ](*,)

    I'm starting to think that this bug will never be fixed.

    Add into your /etc/X11/xorg.conf (into "Device" section):

    Option "ATOMTvOut" "TRUE"

    and restart. You should see S-video after that.

    Before you type those commands, try setting the resolution of yr laptop screen to 800x600.

    I'm waiting from years for 3d working drivers. It shoud be enough. Now we can't have 2d as well.

    I do not understand this. I have X1400 and 3D works perfectly in Jaunty with open drivers. The problem is that S-video out does not work...

    Exactly! The 3d acceleration works even better with open drivers with my video card. But unfortunately I definetelly need the s-video out. I can't believe I must use Windows. I hope ATI drivers...

    New driver work just with newer cards... So does Ubuntu 9.04. You have to use open driver (radeon).

    I have still flickering video with this Ati driver and Compiz 0.7.8.
    Can I ask how you installed Compiz 0.7.8-28.1???
    If I type compiz --version, I get:
