  2. Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu

Your compilation guide is still relevant in every sense. PPAs however convenient may not be for all. This ppa is daily build and that means a new mplayer every now and then, in my case, I update...

  4. Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu

As I mentioned before almost any and every DVD conversion program in Linux depends on mencoder, be it K9 in KDE or Acidrip in Gnome or more so I got no choice here. Your guide with just the minor...
  5. Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu

  11. Re: HOWTO: Install Sun Java in Ubuntu 10.04 - the easiest way

Absolutely correct, many banks, interactive sites all depend on Sun Java, Azureus runs better on Sun Java, so does Jdownloader etc. For now Open JDK is not the way to go.
  12. [all variants] Re: [HOWTO] Install NVIDIA drivers manually on Lynx

No need for nomodeset, blacklisting is very important, so is removing all nvidia related files and nouveau.
  13. [ubuntu] Re: What is it about gui burning apps? [RANT]

  20. Re: Adobe Flash install information for AMD64 (December 2009 update)

  21. Re: Adobe Flash install information for AMD64 (December 2009 update)

  23. Re: Adobe Flash install information for AMD64 (December 2009 update)

If EULA were to be followed, all Linux users are violating M$ patents one way or another, even when you type SUDO :)
  24. Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu

tock, the reason is the type of codec used, in your case, it would be better to compile the multi threaded version of mplayer.
  25. Re: Adobe Flash install information for AMD64 (December 2009 update)
