    [ubuntu] Re: CheckGmail Login Issues?

A solution that works for me is to do "checkgmail -no_cookies", but it limits the functionality.

[ubuntu] Re: Problems with CheckGmail today

Rather strangely, the problem appears to have fixed itself, unless there was an update that I missed.

    Edit: It's now unfixed itself.

I've been having the same problem with checkgmail for the last day or two.
I can login via the web no problem. Removing @gmail.com" in checkgmail didn't work for me.

[ubuntu] Re: Please help me set up openVPN

Most of the time VPNs are used to browse the internet securely using an unsecure connection, like free wifi at a coffee shop.

In order to do this, when you're at a coffee shop you create a secure...

The problem reoccurred and I got a screenshot this time.

[ubuntu] Re: Sounds like 9.10 has quite a few problems.

For most people, karmic will be an improvement. Unfortunately, sometimes there can be new problems, but more often than not they get solved in the next release.

I've been using Ubuntu since Feisty...

I still use windows for voice recognition software, but as far as I'm concerned ubuntu trumps windows everywhere else. Windows cannot match ubuntu's community, or the continual improvement of ubuntu...

[SOLVED] Re: Open Office Insufficient Rights

The "+x" gives you permission to execute the file, but not permission to read and write. To add read and write permission as well, you need to type the following:

    chmod u+rwx [your file]

[ubuntu] Re: Sounds like 9.10 has quite a few problems.

No problems with 9.10 for me either. I've had problems with past versions of Ubuntu, but 9.10 installed fine and everything works.

Compiz is the thing that gives you desktop effects, such as wobbley windows and when you minimize a window you get a little animation rather than the window just disappearing.

In the past it has been released at about 12 noon GMT, which would mean it will be available in about an hour.

    1. Disable NetworkManager:

    sudo update-rc.d -f NetworkManager remove

    2. Reboot
