If you're using Ubuntu, the built in PDF reader (Eye of Gnome [EOG] I believe), is excellent. As for porting Foxit... challenge and a half :P Of course, there's always Adobe's original one.
OK - in Ubuntu, click the sound icon on the top panel, go to settings. Make sure the correct output device is selected.
You say Chromium works, have you tried Google Chrome (downloading it from here)?
Because sometimes you really can't be bothered mucking about :P
Since you smiled, here's a bonus link, which should help you.
From Lubuntu:
sudo apt-get install gparted
sudo gparted
Selected the right /dev/sd and check under "Flags" for "boot".
We're doing one of these? :D OK here we go:
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
Haha :D
You can install multiple DE's on the one install - so install 10.04, then install MATE and try it out :)
Shadow,
Going on the above code, please try this:
sudo alsamixer
As it does require root to run.
If I remember correctly, Firefox has experienced a lot of memory leaks. Are you able to throttle your modem's download speed?
Well, personally I wouldn't recommend sticking around with GNOME 2.x. however if you do install 10.04 it will come with GNOME 2.x.
Personally, I can't remember if 10.04 was LTS or not. If it was,...
Banned because darth spilled the beans :P
I say I use floppies. I do use 12.04, but I do not use floppies on my Linux machines, sorry.
Haha, I still use floppies today :P
To be fair Rex, Trash isn't on Unity's desktop by default either. In fact, I don't even think it's on GNOME 3's...
If you have big trouble, move it in small bunches. Here's a question though: if you let the system idle, does it still go "hurk, BLEH!"?
Haha, yeah, Microsoft are really strict. Try this:
ffmpeg -i [file.wma] -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k [file.mp3]
Where:
file.wma: it is the file you want to convert.
-ab: audio bitrate in...
Hey Ryqiem,
Your post put a huge smile on my face :D Those emoticons are cute! *cough* anyway... will you be installing Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Desktop, Lubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, or...? :)
The panel isn't gone, per say, the icons are missing. If you hover over the left panel, do you get any text at all? Also, you didn't need to install the nVidia drivers from a PPA, as they come...
Ah, in that case it could be easier just to copy/paste stuff from home, if there's enough space. It all depends how many partitions your hard drive(s) has/have.
I have yet to see a Linux-based virus... relax.
It does. It has stuff like GIMP, music production, movie editing. I used to use it.
Ah yes, but overheating of the hard drives can cause the same thing. Same with the RAM. OK, so here's an idea: backup or move /home to a new partition and reinstall 10.04. Watch the system for a...
If you did install the Ubuntu Studio Desktop, all you need to do is log out, click the icon next to logon box and select "Ubuntu Studio".
I might be missing something here, but have you selected everything in your Rhythmbox library and removed it from library only, then re-added everything?
