I'm also running into this issue when booting up.

I get around it by ctrl+alt+F2 to terminal and then
sudo service lightdm restart

Am I the only one who has trouble switching between workspaces? I have enabled them in the appearance settings and can switch by clicking the icon in the launcher, but ctrl+alt+right/left/up/down do...

nano issue seems to be related to urxvt color config and .nanorc syntax compatibility. using xfce4-terminal nano opens the same...
