    [ubuntu] Re: gpointing-device-settings Segmentation Fault

A later version (1.5.1-3) of gpointing-device-seetings can be downloaded from here - it might help you out. However, it still doesn't disable tapping even when the box is checked for this.

    But at...

Probably just open a terminal and type "gimpshop", that should do it. (With out the quote marks, of course)

    Re: 10.04 - Customization issues

This is actually a Firefox Add-on. Just go to Tools, Add-ons and disable it.

Thinking of going to the standard Gnome desktop myself. Don't like having stuff forced on me.
  5. Re: Working around nvidia driver install problems on Lucid Beta 2

Thanks for that, got my system back working properly.

Only blacklisted vga16fb and nouveau, forgot the other step - update-initramfs -u

But the system is now happy with the nVidia driver again....

[ubuntu] Re: Kernel upgrade broke WiFi

One thing that I did notice, and included in my failed bug report, is that under the old kernel 2.6.31-17, my Atheros card is described as "Bus Master: Yes" in Hardware Info, PCI Devices.

    However,...

[ubuntu] Re: Kernel upgrade broke WiFi

I have just tried twice to post a bug report through Launchpad - and failed both times.

All I got for my efforts was -

    Error ID: OOPS-1490H1019 and

    Error ID: OOPS-1490D1019.

[ubuntu] Re: Kernel upgrade broke WiFi

I might give that a try. But I still don't understand why a kernel upgrade should wipe out my wifi connection. It worked previously, so why not now?

[ubuntu] Re: Kernel upgrade broke WiFi

I have experienced exactly the same problem using an Acer Aspire 7003 with an Atheros AR2413 Wifi card. All well under kernel 2.6.31-17, but not with 2.6.31-18.

I have been having the same problem as you, and I have found a curious thing.

  15. Could not mount USB drives. No wonder............

Was at a bit of a loss as to why none of my USB drives would mount under Karmic. USB mouse was working fine, but no joy otherwise.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 4 wont boot

I had the same problem with an old Dell Dimension 2400 (Intel integrated graphics) and the only way I could get the GUI to start was to boot the machine with the acpi=off option.

    Details in this...
  17. Re: Edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg - only way to get Karmic to run GDM

I just couldn't get GDM to start at all. Karmic would boot into command line mode okay, but no way was I getting GDM to come up.

Thanks for that, I'll change it now.
  18. Edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg - only way to get Karmic to run GDM

So much for the warnings on NOT editing /boot/grub/grub.cfg. Adding "acpi=off" to the kernel line is the only way that I have found of getting Karmic to boot-up into GDM.

    This is on an, admittedly...
