Hey all,
I have a raid 5 setup on my home server, that I setup through gnome disk utility. The server stopped booting a couple days ago, so I figured it was a good time to get it setup with a new...
Perfect, thanks for the help, that is what I expected. Thankfully it is just a storage server, so speed is not an issue.
Hey guys,
I was just curious if any of you have experience with this.
I have recently built myself a media server with 3x2tb drives in a raid 5 mdadm setup. I also have 1 hard drive not in the...
Interesting, I just ran it again, but the log is completely different. Last time I was at the login prompt, and then hit ctrl-alt-f1 and ran it (after stopping gdm).
This time I ran it after...
I just found the log file, but I am unable to find any errors that should stop it from being created.
The log file is attached, but I was forced to zip it as it was too big as a txt file.
If...
So unfortunately that failed. A new xorg.conf is not created automatically.
When I run "sudo Xorg -configure" it now no longer freezes with just a cursor sitting in the top corner, it instead...
I was hoping to use the open source ati drivers (which I keep hearing good things about), and not fglrx, but I will try that, as it needs to work.
I did uninstall them, but I did it after I switched the card. Will I need to switch it back in, uninstall and then switch it back out?
Hey all,
I just purchased a new ati graphics card as my nvidia is aging and I figured it may help performance.
The issue I am having is it is not creating a new xorg.conf (I need to as I have a...
Yes it did, thanks.
Funny how I missed that option on this server, yet I have it on my desktop... I had figured it was to do with it being a server and therefore a lot more resources. Thanks a lot for the help.

Hey all,
I recently setup Ubuntu server as a media server for myself. I use "playstation media server" for sharing my media with my ps3 and so I was forced to install ubuntu-desktop. I am using...
I also am having this error. Only with "s" and "m". Strange. I am using vnc4server. When I use x11vnc I do not get the problem.
No, I am using Windows 7 now, but the same thing is happening. Thankfully it is an enterprise copy from my school, so there is no limit on the activations, but it is still annoying.
Normal should be fine. When I made the images, I forgot to unmount the partition, so actually normal is likely better.
Thanks for the tips, and that is a very good point, I do need to work on the hardware. Unfortunately, I have yet to do the hardware modification myself as I am in the finishing weeks of university. ...
Thoughts anyone?
Hi all,
I posted this to the tutorials section a while back, but it did not go through, likely because it is not yet ready in terms of cleanliness and ease of use.
I would like to share it...
Picture Frame
This project started when I wanted to build a picture frame from an old laptop a friend of mine gave me. In this tutorial I will cover the software section of the process, and...
I added the line export DISPLAY=:0 to the command and now it works.
Thanks for the help anyway.
I am going to try to make a tutorial and post it up soon.
I got it working, thanks.
The directing it to the actual directory did not help, but the export DISPLAY=:0 did.
I am going to try to make a tutorial for the software side of the setup of my...
Thanks, That is what I have been using to configure cron, so no go there.
Thanks, I will look into that in the morning.
I am using the gnome-schedule gui to do the crontab (I am still a rookie at it, but will likely switch to cmd line stuff for this now that I found...
Hey guys,
I also posted this in a crontab tutorial, but I figured I should post it here as well because I may get some non-crontab advice.
So any cron or non-cron ideas to do this?
Hey guys,
Is there a way to schedule a program for a certain amount of time and then shutdown at the end?
Basically, I want to have a slideshow start with feh, so my command is "0 0 * * * feh...
