    Bye Ubuntu+linux Pt 2

    Linux is overall slower than Windows XP.
    Linux dosent have any prefetching like windows so applications dont speed up over time.
    Its annoying compiling.
    Video editors suck
    Applications get out...

    NTFS dosent have any fsck tools on linux since NTFS is a trade secret.

    To correct ntfs issues you have to run chkdsk on windows.

    You have to add test_fs to your ext3 partition first though.

    Its in Intrepid I am using it now. It seems stable to me although i dont have my personal data on it. I do have data on it that i dont care that gets lost though.

    Ext4 isnt in the intrepid kernel ethier you will have to compile a kernel with ext4 support or wait for ubuntu to include it.

    Yeah they do
    On a crash a hard disk head can scribble garbage all over the Inode tables (rare)

    SSDs will proably just corrupt the Inode being written too on a crash.

    1.Extents are what JFS+xfs Use. They improve file deletion times compared to what ext3 uses. Ext3 uses indirect blocks and it is very ineffiecent for large Files.

    Yeah but once you mount it as ext4 with extents enabled it cant be mounted as ext3.
