Hi there,
I have 4GB of RAM, running the 64bit version of ubuntu, until yesterday I had swap enabled and ubuntu began swapping when reaching around 1.3 or more GB, when over 2 were still free....
Hi there,
I'm compiling optimized dcraw builds to put on my blog, currenty I'm using the following switches:
no opt
standard: -O4
P2: -O4 -march=pentium2
P3: -O4 -march=pentium3...
Uninstall via Synaptic and do the make install command again, worked for me.
The problem did not return until now, strangely enough that it happened today, as I didn't change anything for a long time now. But I'm happy with the current situation and my wallet too :)
edit:...
It takes 3minutes on my system to show the dialog, thats really annoying, did someone already find a solution, as the power-management-daemon is already running.
May it be possible that other devices as power supplies or subwoofer in the same multi-outlet power strip may influence the screen? Because I just unplugged everything but the screen and the problem...
I don't have any spare parts here. If it helps, the problem goes away when turning the monitor off and on but after a while the area gets filled again with this 'nice' green.

When I booted my pc this morning I was greeted with a strange artifact thats already there when the bios starts up and it's not important whether I use analog or digital connection to the monitor....
I get a grey box when booting into gnome which turns out to be a warning message that gnome-settings-daemon could not be started. Each reboot I lose an applet due to some OAFID: bug which asks me to...

I tried but it doesn't work as compiz doesn't start because XGL isn't running due to some RGB error already mentionend in this thread. Does anyone know a solution for this?
Couldn't open RGB_DB...
I installed compiz from universe but I don't have any gconf options. /apps doesn't list compiz. This is on amd64, is there something I can do?
edit: my bad ^^
working fine, thanks! Although I managed to compile it somehow on my old ubuntu version ^^
epiphany doesn't focus the location bar when opening a new tab and <tab> doesn't cycle the locationbar auto complete list, so I'm back to firefox.
I'll second that. Would make more people trying ubuntu the first time say "wow that's fast". As boot time is one of the biggest complaint my windows using friends have this would be great.
I get the following error on my desktop when shutting down:
shutdown: timeout opening/writing control channel /dev/initctl
init: timeout opening/writing control channel /dev/initctl
Doesn't seem to work on amd64. I tried everything from compiling 0.3.3 0.3.5 and even 0.4.0. They all segfault. The deb magic posted some pages before doesn't work either. Is there something I do...
