I doubt your hypothesis.
Instead: open a terminal, type `wine --version`, if it does not say atleast wine-1.2 or wine-1.3.0 you need to get a newer version and retest.
itunes doesn't work correctly for a number of reasons, you should ask apple to support it better.

It shouldn't be necessary, the latest fix is in 1.3.0.
newer securom is not likely to work in Wine properly, they do dirty tricks. you may need to use a nocd/nodvd for non-steam borderlands.
