I can understand where you are coming from.
After spending 10 + hours, googling, tweaking, and reading...well Skype still has a green screen and my brightness buttons don't work. It is definitely...
I agreed, GIMP tutorials are easy to find and replicate. Its what I have been using to learn GIMP.
On the otherhand, I haven't even started to use Inkscape so I don't know what is out there for...

I have a Toshiba Satelite and what you are describing happened to me too when I installed 12.04 about two weeks ago. If I remember correctly, it had too do with the screen and I needed to edit Grub...
I have no problem running Spotify on Ubuntu 12.04. Its kinda required for me while I do my homework, can't live without it.
I will compare this to what loads up on my computer.
I was thinking it had to do with digital rights. Which seemed odd. This makes much more sense.
There isn't anything wrong with my system (at least that I can tell) but something happens upon boot that makes me curious.

Going to add this, the only error that I can find it that Spotify displays "Link not found" at the top upon not opening.
I intalled Unbuntu 12.04 about a week ago, I had some issues installing but I resolved them through trial and error and everything was working great until today. My mouse, my sound, everything was...
What is the app on the side of all these screenshots? Is it available for 12.04?
Thanks.
I also suggest Lubuntu, it runs so much quicker than Windows on my 3 year old netbook, which is what I use for school and some emulator games while I am traveling.
The bootloader for Ubuntu is either GRUB legacy or GRUB2. I don't know if that can be installed separately, but I know it is included in Ubuntu installs. Maybe a Google search?
You have to go into "Change PC Settings" at the bottom is Advanced Options, click "Restart Now," a new page will open and it is somewhere in there, think it says "Advanced Options" again, then "UEFI...
