    [ubuntu] New Mouse and Keyboard

Well, my Logitech USB Wheel Mouse has been turning single-clicks into double-clicks at random (I'm pretty sure the switch inside is wonked) and needs to be replaced. Looking for some suggestions on...

    [ubuntu] Re: Backup Happiness

As soon as I can grab more that five minutes from my oh-so-adorable three-year-old I'll read up on bacula. Thanks for the suggestion! Can I ask three quick questions though about this software:

    [ubuntu] Re: Backup Happiness

I was kind of wondering about this too when I read the previous post, since in my experience dd just treats whatever it's reading as a stream of bytes ("stream of bytes!?! In my Unix!?!") but I think...

    [ubuntu] Re: Backup Happiness

I am very happy for these suggestions, but I have a couple of requirements that I want to be sure are met by these solutions.

I want to be able to point the backup/imaging software at a drive and...

    [ubuntu] Backup Happiness

I'm hoping that a friendly back-up guru can answer a couple of questions for me, chief of which is whether or not what I want to do makes for a valid backup strategy. I'm running Ubuntu 7.10...
  6. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

    [QUOTE=Kilz;5145188]Have a wonderful day. :D
    Try Swiftweasel.

I'd really prefer to stay with Firefox since, you know, it's what I'm used to and can't see any reason why I should switch.

    I...
  7. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Well, in the absence of any other pointers or suggestions as to what my be wrong with my particular configuration, I am going to assume that the .deb itself is borked and wait until the newest...
  8. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

The package insists it's x.14. It lies and installes x.13. I have verified this by checking "Help" -> "About Firefox".
  9. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Anyone else noticing that the .deb referenced in the OP for firefox32 2.0.0.14 (http://home.comcast.net/~ubuntume/firefox32-2.0.0.14-ubuntu_7.10-8.04_amd64.deb) actually seems to install 2.0.0.13, or...

[ubuntu] Re: scroll wheel workspace switching

Nevermind. I had the question answered elsewhere. The settings for this are under "Viewport Switcher" -> "Actions" -> "Desktop-based Viewport Switching".

The entries in the list for "Move Next"...

[ubuntu] Re: scroll wheel workspace switching

Ah, sorry no. I mean, when my mouse pointer is over the desktop and I move the scroll wheel up or down, the workspace changes. This is the behavior the OP lost and wanted to get back, but that I'd...

[ubuntu] Re: scroll wheel workspace switching

It looks like this thread is falling into oblivion and I'd like to know if my question in the previous post has an answer, so, here's the bump.

Thanks for any direction on this.

[ubuntu] Re: scroll wheel workspace switching

I have a closely related question. Where is the setting that allows me to disable this behavior?

Currently, using my two-button + scroll-wheel/middle button mouse, I have the following desirable...
