  1. [SOLVED] Re: Google Maps 3d "Helicopter" view doesn't work.

Ah, thanks. Kind of dumb for the author of the blog to leave out that detail.

Has anyone tried this on Ubuntu? http://google-latlong.blogspot.com/2011/09/helicopter-view-of-your-driving.html

  4. Re: What is your killer Windows app/ app you simply can't be without in Linux?

Yeah, if you're going to buy devices from a manufacturer that is hostile to Linux, you're going to have problems. You're probably stuck with Windows (or Mac) as long as you want to use Apple products.

  9. Re: Pub owner fined over customer's "illegal downloads"

As far as I can tell it is not technically possible to block bittorent. There is one program that I've found that claims to be able to do it. It is Windows only. I don't have a Windows machine at...

You need to explicitly put the swap partition in /etc/fstab on your Xubuntu install.
  11. Re: Pub owner fined over customer's "illegal downloads"

I run a public hotspot. It was shutdown by my ISP in Costa Rica for uploading copyrighted content. To be clear, it is the uploading that is considered the infraction. I have a router with DD-WRT...
  12. Re: Pub owner fined over customer's "illegal downloads"

Since we're having fun with analogies, let's say the pub owner allows a customer to use the pub's phone. The customer calls a hit man and tells him to kill his wife. That seems like a much worse...

[ubuntu] Re: Recmmendation for old laptop

I'm running Ubuntu Karmic on a 1.13 GHz Thinkpad T23. I set the processor speed to fixed minimum (about 750MHz) in the BIOS because it's in a hot environment. I mostly use it to download torrents...
  14. Poll: Re: If you had to use windows, what version would it be?

I chose XP because it's familiar. I have barely used Vista and never Win7.

  23. [ubuntu] Re: Rhythmbox searches for non-existant plugins.

  24. [ubuntu] Re: Rhythmbox searches for non-existant plugins.

I hear that Banshee is going to be the new default player in Ubuntu and that Rythmbox is not being actively developed anymore. I'm thinking of switching.
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Rhythmbox searches for non-existant plugins.

Workaround is to uncheck "Watch my library for new files" in the Music tab in prefs, but this is not ideal because I want to watch for new files :)

    Anyone know another solution?
