Hello everybody,
I want to get a laptop that would be more convenient to travel with. I also plan on a very minimal configuration to save battery time.
The purpose is mainly to be able to write...
Thanks for the answers. I'll look more into the encryption idea and the dropbox thing.
I knew about dropbox, but if you want to sync a folder, you have to install something, right? If you don't,...
Hello,
My goal is to share a file with another user on the same system.
I could give him read access, but I can't create groups, and there is not group with that user and me only.
We can...
I was probably in a bad day, there is no need to be mad at me for that. Upgrades do go wrong more often than not in a way or another, but it is not necessarily that disturbing. But there was no...
That is wrong, you can perfectly use gparted from your current installation to get rid of windows. You only will have a problem if you really want to enlarge your partition instead of creating...
Why not just delete the windows partition (gparted would do it pretty easily), run update-grub and create an ext4 with the free space, or enlarge the current one?
You can still unmap it with xmodmap. But it would be system-wide, so you won't have it in softwares either. You could bind a shortcut to activate/deactivate it, though.
Just so you know, the command...
Hi
I think the software you are looking for is xmodmap. The function key acts weirdly, though, most of time, so it might be a little bit tricky to configure.
Another useful software will be xev.
...
It might not be exactly what you want, but xte or xdotool allow you to simulate a keyboard input.
xdotool type "mysuper@adress.com"Binding to a global shortcut using your desktop environment...
I have troubles with xbindkeys crashing, but I didn't find out why (looks random atm). Is xbindkeys still running when it stops working?
To work-around, I have defined a custom kde shortcut that...
I see no reason why it would mess with suspend or hibernate. I think that the acpi manager is independent from the session manager. At least, it should be. There is only one way to make sure, though.
Yep, this is right. Remapping a modifier requires some precautions. The general idea is to clear the modifier list, do your stuff with keycodes, and then reassign modifiers. Some people even advice...
You can do whatever the server program listening to the port allows you to do, assuming you know it's language.
If you connect to a website (httpd) on the port 80, you can send
GETto get the...
What output do you get in xev when you press ctrl, alt, F1 ... FX ?
The function keys are another thing. (If we are both talking about the fn+X combinations)
Do usual shortcuts invloving alt...
Well, if you are still here, xmodmap and xev would probably do more than animal sacrifices. Depending on the animals, though.
Didn't the vodoo spells have any effect?
This powerfull spell will...
Okay, I think it is my bad from the beginning.
If I am right this time, you gotta do things in the right order. First you want to remove Super_L from modifier mod4.
Just to do things right,...
Actually, the xorg.conf has been split into several files, but if you create one, it will have priority over those.
Maybe have a look at /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d
Hope it helps
Does the $ key work?
Anyway, the easiest 'fix' would be to let alone that key, and add the EuroSign keysym to another key. Like alt_GR+e .
To to that, check
xmodmap -pke | grep "e E".
Create a...
Well, your euro key is probably a special key, not handled like it should be. So my guess is that it is a kernel/driver/keyboard model issue.
Can you post the whole xev output for a single press of...
So, did you find it? About the screen capture, ps does the trick under kde.
I'd rather not. I think it is a good thing that my root user is protected from my stupidity.
Well, the xmodmap config is just fine, so this is more likely a problem at kernel level. Can your restore the blacklist file the way you wrote it?
I'm not an expert, but the blacklisted usbmouse...
Did you do something special, like upgrading distribution?
What is the output of xmodmap -pp ?
You need to be more specific. What apps do you need a command for?
That said, the ps command could give you a few of the commands you are looking for.
ps xThis will give you info about...
Open source just means that you get both the source and the binaries. That doesn't mean anything about the license, except that you are forced to distribute the source code along with the binaries....
