Had same issue with Samsung 900x3a. Solution was to change the monitor's Color Settings to RGB - done through the menu on the monitor.
Thanks - really helpful, the touchpad was driving me nuts.
Middle-click can be done by tapping touchpad with 3 fingers.
I had same problem, the issue was in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, removed:
Section "Module"
Load "glx"
EndSection
I believe the section was added by proprietary NVidia driver.
CPU load is now...
Try adding:
options thinkpad_acpi brightness_enable=1
to file:
/etc/modprobe.d/options
