You can check out smartmontools. Recently I had couple drives kicking out I/O errors but smartmontools said drives were good... I'm sure in Windows world there are better tools.
You are only allow "one" faulty/removed disk from a RAID5 array. You have "two"... what a draw of luck...

Software RAID is quite good in respect compares to HW RAID, IMHO.
If drive falls, you gotta reboot the server, go into RAID controller BIOS, and rebuild the drive....
