elementaryos.org -> gala - on the other hand, thats probably not "messaroundable" enough. *g*
Just encountered this on 13.04 and on a zenbook. Would shurely like to save the 8 to 9 W this device alone consumes.
However removing the module did not change a thing for me.
Playonlinux worked for me. I had to upgrade to the latest version from their ppa before it would finish, but as far as I can tell it works smoothly now. Still need to create proper launchers for menu...
However it is still not done and many of the programs aren't even at beta stage yet.
You can pretty much tell how far things have progressed if you check the beta1 burndown:...
*edit* Actually it is fixed - it just took me a while to figure it out:
Here's a working launcher in $HOME/.local/share/applications/
(obviously you need to replace the icon-line with a working...
Hi,
I cannot for the life of me figure out, how to get rid of the center-position of the initial display of notifications. I'd like them to always be at the same position in the corner, so I don't...
I started writing a little app using vala.

But I haven't been programming lately since my diplomarbeit is taking up all of my time. I might continue this, once I...
Now, don't be rude. The gnome-shell in the repository is not the latest there is, and not all components of gnome3 made it into the ubuntu repository.
There are other ppa's (gnome3-team and...
I'm having that very same issue when downloading using firefox. It works "properly" when using chromium-browser.
Interested in a solution that preferably fixes firefox behavior. It used to work...

I think it was a Logitech something...
I actually like the gnome-shell integration of the chat - not having to open a chat window just to reply to one of the x people keeps the desktop clean for work. If they would just be visible.
I...
Hi
I'm using gnome-shell 3.4.1 and I absolutely love it - the only thing I miss is hud and ... being notified properly of chat messages. A lot of my work and private life too includes instant...
Probably because no one knows or has experimented with this so far? I for one like the difference between touchpad and mouse with the mouse feeling more "mechanic".
Hey - my HDD just died on me, so I had the 'pleasure' of installing a brand new ubuntu with all settings fresh from the box.
Worked very smoothly, but now I'm stuck with the little things I...
Well, I'm back to linux. Ubuntu. Using gnome-shell.
And the bottom line is, that this is simply better (for me).
I had to google way too often for solutions of minor issues and not being able...
Iron Sky Soundtrack... again.
The virtual desktop tool is ok, but for me it messed with my dual-screen setup. Thanks for the hint, tho.
I guess it depends on what programs one needs when deciding to use windows. Once they run,...
Thanks for all the replies. I am gave up on the bibtex for now and put it on the "need to get working" list.
You guys are aware, that in my case "dependencies" was used as a good thing? Like...
Thanks for that - I got the basic latex working now, just not bibtex *gnah*
Man, we linux (ubuntu) users are a spoiled bunch.
Hi,
I'm a linux user. My first one was installed via a collection of floppy discs and I was impressed by a working command prompt after a couple of days of installing and configuring. I used fvwm,...
Hi,
this is bugging me for quite a while now and I was hoping for it to be a temporary booboo, but since release of 12.04 draws nearer and thunderbird is to remain as the default mail application...
Hm, true - if I was running Unity. I prefer gnome-shell, tho. :)
Hi, I am currently in the process of "removing steps from my workflow that are so stupid a machine could do it".
Now one of the things I always do when starting thunderbird is maximize it. Even on...

This is what I got now (I think thats all thats needed):
It basically makes the message tray behave just as if the overview was active.
