    I wondered if the BIOS had been changed by Windows. As you wrote "It didn't" stop me (until I was able to open my laptop by removing a few screws)

    Fixing the more than annoyance, the start of the fix was to be remove PC battery and CMOS battery, etc..
    I do love Windows ... not.Grrrr

    I've uninstalled Skype and rebooted. Thus far the problem has not recurred.

    I've been having the same problem for months and believe that it may be due to having MIcrosoft (ugh) Skype starting up or perhaps Chrome browser.
    Sorry that I'm not providing a solution. Let's hope...

    My Zenbook came with W10 and is now dual boot Ubuntu and W10. I only use w10 for 2 apps that are not available on Ubuntu.

    Below is what htop shows.
    I've only booted my laptop in the last hour or so and re-booted in the last 20minutes.
    So maximum temperature is "only" about 53 deg C
    Pulseaudio...
