What do you mean what actually do? Release it :) I am looking forward to trying that.
I have no experience with C (only python) so no help on that. You may want to get in touch with this guy though:...

[ubuntu] Re: Sound on a Macbook Pro 5,5?

It has already been committed. With 2.6.32 sound works fine out of the box on my MBP.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Improve battery life and ACPI functions on the macbookpro

I modified the hdparm values in the scripts. I found them way too aggressive and they aren't good for hard disk life. 128 is a more conservative value.

Also, I notice I had some periodic inode...
  7. Re: How can I ssh from Linux to Mac and pipe GUI apps?

Does your matlab use dynamic licenses (via a server?). If it does you can install matlab on ubuntu and use the dynamic license via VPN.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Improve battery life and ACPI functions on the macbookpro

    There are two ways:
    1) you create a small bash script that puts BT up and down; you launch the script whenever you need to.

    2) Use RFKILL (should be in the package wireless-tools ). Your Kernel...
  9. [SOLVED] Re: "Reboot Workaround?" OR "I'm a Dope, Can You Help?"

It's the kernel. 2.6.31 restarts without problems.
If you don't want to upgrade kernel, install kexec-tools for a partial workaround.

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 Beta on MacBook Pro 5,5

I own a 5,5 and I am pretty happy with linux; in fact I never use OSX and I would gladly remove it if only there was a way to have it running on an external SD or USB (it's needed for firmware...

    [ubuntu] Re: Fan control script

Well, cpuscaling is for you to save power when the cpu is not needed so badly: by disabling it you may gain performance, but you will lose battery life.

  17. Re: Nike+ Physical Fitness linux-compatable alternatives?

Are you sure the shoes have the sensor inside? I don't think they do.
The probably have a foam fake-sensor under the insole.

If you have a sensor, there are a few hacks here and there.

What model of MBP do you have? For the new ones there's a new fix - need to recompile the kernel module.

[ubuntu] Re: Sound on a Macbook Pro 5,5?

Yes. Weirdly enough it doesn't even get me to choose which kernel to boot from grub. It would just load the most recent kernel. At least it doesn't hang.
