    - you first have to uninstall notification-daemon (use synaptic)
    - then you kill the notification-daemon running processes
    - make sure you have notify-osd installed (synaptic)

    I get sometimes this warning when executing the ping command:

    "WARNING: kernel is not very fresh, upgrade is recommended."

    I'm confused since the kernel is very new:

    Suddenly I cannot start the ''gnome-panel'' (when I login or manually)
    I get this error when doing it manually:

    I was using static IP address, and it worked fine for weeks.
    I noticed today the IP address has changed, not sure why.
    (192.168.1.2 => 192.168.1.3)

    yes, my issue was the script:


    $> cat /usr/share/lightdmxrandr.sh
    #!/bin/sh xrandr --size 1680x1050
    that was invoked after login by lightdm, had hard-coded the wrong resolution.
