  2. [ubuntu] Re: Shutdown delayed by a "stop job" for a user session

It had occurred on some of the shutdowns.

On some, the countdown does not seem to reach an end. In those, I hold down the power button until the machine shuts down.
  3. [ubuntu] Shutdown delayed by a "stop job" for a user session

    Here's a video:
    https://photos.app.goo.gl/EftEpL97jBQBFsXo8

I'm a web developer and more than a decade Linux user (but not a big tinkerer).

Any advice on what this might be?

    Is it a user...

    Firefox hardware video

So, I'm using Firefox and I don't have Adobe Flash installed and so I can't miss the fact that Firefox in Linux has some issues with hardware video rendering.

It seems that they are being worked...

  9. [all variants] Re: What OS are you running with Pentium M and what do you want next?

Excuse me, kansasnoob, but what does Edubuntu and classic gnome have to do with pae, please?
  10. [all variants] Re: What OS are you running with Pentium M and what do you want next?

My client has an IBM T42 with a Pentium M that we want to use as an LTSP thin client but since we upgraded to 13.04 we have to resort to a workaround and it is not worth the effort.
  11. Poll: Join in on the request for development (future) release Medibuntu

Medibuntu only adds a repository for the development (future) release around feature freeze (see feature request for reference).

  13. Re: Life expectancy of a Flash drive being used for Swap/ReadyBoost?

32 bit Ubuntu handles 4GB of RAM or more. It is called PAE.
  14. Re: Life expectancy of a Flash drive being used for Swap/ReadyBoost?

Yes, you are right, kurt18947, but Hibernation has been disabled by default since precise and I don't need it anyway. Besides, it still is true that you'd never want to use swap in the common sense...
  15. Re: Life expectancy of a Flash drive being used for Swap/ReadyBoost?

I used an SSD, not a USB flash drive. And there's a difference between swap and filesystem caching. ReadyBoost is filesystem caching. Ideally, you'd want to never use swap. Filesystem caching,...

[ubuntu] Re: ready boost for ubuntu?

There's a solution in Ubuntu. It is called flashcache. Here's how I did it in my blog.
  17. Re: Life expectancy of a Flash drive being used for Swap/ReadyBoost?

I did real filesystem caching like this (my blog).

  24. [all variants] Why would DenyHosts add LTSP clients IPs to /etc/hosts.deny?

I've this issue with my LTSP setup, where I've DenyHosts set up to protect the server because it is also internet facing (the ssh port) and the IP of the client (there's currently only one client) on...
  25. [ubuntu] Re: "No response from server, restarting..." Error from LTSP Client

I had this issue and as I found out it was caused by DenyHosts adding a specific IP address to /etc/hosts.deny which prevents further login attempts from that IP address. This was caused obviously by...
