Can manage three hours at a push I reckon.
I have had the same problem twice, both times after updating (currently running 64bit Karmic).
Tried various solutions on the net, but this is the only one that worked for me:

I'm glad it, sort of, worked!
Yes, I should have mentioned that I'm on Ubuntu 9.10. I suppose things are a bit different on Kubuntu.
OK, this is what I did, based on the information here: http://swiss.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1217421&page=3
Open up a terminal window and type:
gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub

I solved the brightness issue by trying some of the workarounds mentioned in this thread:...
This worked a treat for me, although I had some problems with the 'storage' folder I created not being capitalised to match the name of my storage partition. So I ended up renaming the /mnt/storage...
The npviewer also works for me. Much appreciated!
I've just installed 9.10 on my Aspire 3935 and the brightness issue is still there.
If anyone's managed to fix it, can they let me know how?
I tried using the other kernel (which now seems to be...
I followed squareff255's advice in this post:

And it fixed a similar problem for me.
It's a shame the recovery option is gone from the...
Have tried using the MP500 driver instead.
That seems to be OK for printing .xls docs.
Scratch that.
I've just tried printing .xls and .pdf documents and they look awful!
Back to the drawing board :(
Don't know if this helps, but I have an MP600 too and have always had problems getting it to work when I upgrade Ubuntu.
This time (9.10) I just selected the driver for the MP610, obviously the...
I've had a quick scout around the forums and it looks like there are loads of people having different issues with Karmic Koala, so I know it's a long shot but I thought I'd throw this in the pot...
I installed Ubuntu a couple of days after Gutsy Gibbon came out and loved it!
I upgraded to Hardy Heron on launch day without any major problems, but ever since I did my laptop (Averatec 1020)...
