Can you tell me how you manage to send pictures by email from Shotwell?
I'd like to be able to do this, but don't see how I can do it from Shotwell, in the way that I can from F-Spot.
I was messing around with Unity's settings in Compiz. I wasn't happy with a couple of the changes I'd made and saw an option to reset my settings to their default values, so (thinking, 'Why not?') I...
Well I found out why I couldn't play music previews in Amazon.
In Banshee's Preferences, I had selected 'Sound Menu Integration for Banshee' under the 'Extensions' tab. Using that to open Banshee...
Hi Everyone
Banshee has stopped playing previews from the Amazon Store. I get the error message that you can see in the attached screenshot. I'm certain I was able to play previews last week.

Thanks for the reply.
Short term workaround for me is to install and use F-spot for emailing pictures.
I must be missing something really simple, but as far as I can tell, it's impossible to email pictures from Shotwell.
Is this right? Can it be done?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks for the reply.
I was able to use Nautilus to transfer files, specifically albums. I had assumed Rhythmbox would pick up the player so that if I made a playlist in Rhythmbox, it would be a...
Hi Everyone
Whenever I plug in my Sansa Clip, it shows up fine in Nautilus but Rhythmbox doesn't see it so I can't transfer music to it.
Can anyone help me get it working with Rhythmbox?
Sorted
sudo apt-get update
Exactly and how:
1. Open Software Centre;
2. Type Compiz in the search box;
3. Click on Advanced Desktop Effects Settings;
4. Click on the install button;
5. Authenticate;
6. Admire the...
I'm back using Ubuntu after a long while and I thought it might be nice to install Compiz to get the effects. When I try to install from the Software Centre I get a message about untrusted sources....

Okay, I completely screwed up the computer trying to write udev rules, so I've done a completely clean install of UbuntuStudio 9.04.
To get my firewire interface working this time, I've created a...
But isn't that effectively what I'm doing at the moment?
If I understand what I've done with my workaround, then I'm only running as root when I click the start button on Jack Control. Even then,...
Okay, I guess
KERNEL=="dv1394[0-9]*", NAME="dv1394/%n", GROUP="video"
KERNEL=="video1394[0-9]*", NAME="video1394/%n", GROUP="video"
would be the wrong thing to do :oops:

Okay....
Would I be right in pasting the following into a text document:
KERNEL=="dv1394[0-9]*", NAME="dv1394/%n", GROUP="video"
KERNEL=="video1394[0-9]*", NAME="video1394/%n", GROUP="video"...
Thanks Thorgal
When I type /etc/group I get
/etc/group: Permission denied
I'll follow your suggestion and take a look around to see how to write my own udev rules.
Thanks Thorgal, but that just muddied the waters further for me.
By 'udev rule' I take it you mean something like the ones I've seen like this:
50-udev-default.rules:KERNEL=="raw1394*",...
I have a question about groups and security that has come up because I'm running a firewire interface.

I'm actually running the regular Ubuntu with just the applications I want installed from the repositories. I'm running 2.6.26-3-rt kernel for music anyway, so I guess that's fine.

You should now be able to see your printer, if so, select it.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't realised that it wasn't available for Ubuntu.
We booted into Windows and used the website there.
