Hello,
I'm trying to build a database of sorts--a very simple one, as it's for a theatre. I would have data on actors' contact info, birth dates, availabilities, etc. and would be able to sort...
Help! I moved to a new apartment today, and the people who are subletting it to me left me the Rogers installation package so that I could get wireless internet. The router is all set up, and now I...
Same thing here, on the ASUS EEE PC 1000HE. I've tried it both through wireless and Ethernet...
Looks good, but I have a beginner's question: once the script is in there, how do I make it execute?
Hello--
My EEEPC 1000HE is having a heck of a lot of problems with its wireless. It'll be fine for a few minutes, but have a weak signal despite being right next to the router. Then the wireless...
Hello,
I'm running Karmic on an Asus EEEPC 1000he. Back when I had it on a Dell Inspiron 1501, I was able to use two-finger scrolling... don't ask me how, but it happened. Now that I've switched,...
Hi,
I just bought an EeePC1000HE and want to rid it of the scourge of Windows XP. Which version of Ubuntu can I install on it without too many problems? Does Karmic work? I don't know if I want to...
So regular Karmic doesn't work on an EEE PC?
Hello,
I want to buy an Eee PC 1000HE and install Ubuntu onto it. How can I know if it'll work? Is there a hardware compatibility list I can check? And what's the difference between regular Ubuntu...
Hello,
I'm considering buying the 1000he, but how do I know if it will work with Karmic? Is there a list I can refer myself to?
Hello,
I'm switching from a Dell Inspiron 1501 to a Macbook. Is there any way to migrate my files, settings and programs over without reinstalling the whole thing? I know Apple has a Migration...
Glorious! Thanks, guys.
I had a thought--could it be a libs problem? Or a blacklist? I remember not changing my blacklist during the upgrade(now that might have been the problem...). Would that give anyone any leads?
I went to that page and followed all instructions, updated, and rebooted; still no dice. Any other ideas?
(Thanks a lot for this, guys; your support is heartening.)
I get the following:
bernard@Nicodemus:~/Videos/Films/Doctor Who 2005 - Season 1$ vlc -vv --enable-loader bob.avi
VLC media player 1.0.2 Goldeneye

There is indeed a similar error in debug mode. But how do I disable those PPAs? I don't know which ones they are...
Again, excuse my inexperience.
The files played in Jaunty--they're a bunch of Doctor Who .avi s.
I tried to use --enable-loader, but didn't get any kind of result... not to mention that Totem doesn't work either, so I think...
No dice. I reinstalled both VLC and Medibuntu, and no particular result happened.
Upgraded from existing Jaunty. Also, I am not sure how to re-enable Medibuntu... is there an easy way to do it?
Thanks.
I've upgraded to Karmic and suddenly I can't play .avi files anymore, or stream .asx files from websites. VLC suggests that it's something I can't fix, but I beg to differ. Are there any other people...
I checked and got
So how would I install it?
I did both of those. gstreamer is already installed, and so are the restricted extras.
Any other ideas?
I somehow can't play the internet radio station I'd added two days ago and which worked fine until my upgrade to Karmic Koala. If I run Banshee in terminal, I get

Using the most recent version of Gnome-do, and ever since I've updated, I can't search for files within my hard drive like I used to. Is there any way to make sure it archives?
