Was the previous version of Ubuntu installed on the D: drive?
Am I reading correctly that you had data on the D: drive and then installed Ubuntu on that D: drive?
If that is the case, it sounds like you overwrote at least a portion of the data with the...

Also make sure you do a good search prior to posting. I realatively certain there's some more good material out there...
Thanks Larkspur. That looks like what I was doing, but I may have missed a step. I'll see if I can tinker with it some more this weekend.
Nice. I'll have to check out Gnome Nanny. I was trying to do the same thing editing pam.d files. With no real success.
hmmm... Do you have the most recent kernel? I'm trying to remember if there was a separate kernel that worked well for the HP mini's. I'm probably thinking of the Acer Aspire One.

When you downloaded the flash plugin was it through the software center or through Adobe?
Ouch! Your best bet sounds like the card. Chances are Ubuntu overwrote the ones on the comp. I'm not using the Unity interface, but I'm pretty sure there should be a 'places'
option when you click...
Could be a recent update. Especially one to the video driver.

Also I'm pretty sure collisionystm is right so you probably only want to use this with standard filetypes. (.doc,.mp3,.jpg,etc.)
As opposed to critical configuration files.
Yes there definately is. I agree with TeoBigusGeekus that you probably don't want to make this your /home, but if you want it to automatically mount at boot to say /data
you could add it to your...
Sorry about the double post. I'm posting from my 'not so smart' phone.
Provided you have administrative (root) privleges, you use those in ubuntu with the sudo command while you're in the terminal. If you are trying to give access to another user thay need to be added...
