I'm trying to install ubuntu on an hp pavilion dm3 but after I boot from the USB stick, the boot freezes at "syslinux 4.04...". Any ideas?

Less than a day after a reboot and Compiz is running at 100% CPU load while my computer is sitting idle.

Any ideas what's going on?

Like I said, the GDM theme is from 9.04 and not the 11.04 login screen.

Yeah I'm actually talking about the login, GDM screen. I must have set it with some tool a while ago (I remember the "Login Screen Settings" having a theme option) and now the Ubuntu preferences...

Great idea! When I logged into the guest account, the same keyboard layout worked exactly as expected (alt and win swapped just fine). That means it must be something with my user account. Any ideas?

I'm not sure that's the problem. I have 3 Ubuntu computers with the same keyboard setup/layout and it works fine on the other 2.

My Nvidia display fails when I upgrade from linux-image-2.6.38-8-generic to linux-image-2.6.38-9-generic. Not sure what the problem is but if you hit this, roll back the kernel.

Clicking on my touchpad works just fine but tapping on my touchpad requires a few repeated taps before registering a mouse press. I suspect the sensitivity threshold is too high or something like...

I'm still having issues with the track pad tapping (not clicking). It doesn't seem to work consistently. Anyone have any fixes for that?

That's all I did. Just replaced the .py, ran it, and it worked.

Like mentioned earlier, there were 5 problems:

It seems like tapping is not as responsive as on OS X. Sometimes I have to tap 2-3 times before it's registered as a click.
