I'm having a little trouble with Virtualbox and seamless mode with a Windows 7 guest VM. Fullscreen mode works fine but whenever I switch to seamless mode, the windows are just black boxes, though...
That may be true but it doesn't explain why Gnome is performing so badly with the hot corner and window animations with the default settings. Surely that won't stress the GPU that much?
I haven't tried that but the animation performance in Gnome is also a lot worse while using the AMD GPU :\
Hello!
I have a Dell Latitude E6540 laptop running Ubuntu Gnome 15.10 and for some reason, the fglrx drivers don't perform anywhere near as well as the Intel integrated graphics. Running the...
Ah thanks, what I did worked but I've changed it to 1777 :)
Ah, just found the problem. Only root was able to write to /tmp because the permissions weren't set on it properly after creating the new user.
chmod a+w /tmp
No need for reinstall :D
I wouldn't think that what you said would be correct. The fact is, this method works on all of the other kinds of Linux systems that we run (CentOS, Fedora, RedHat, Debian, etc.)
The system...
I've just installed Ubuntu 11.10 in a virtual machine but the environment I'm using it in requires me to have the same user account name, uid and gid as the other 40-something machines I'm working...
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre
Try that, that's always how I've done it in the past.
I've been searching around on Google for MIDs but I still can't work out if they are WiFi access only or if they have 3G mobile internet.
Thanks smbtol. That's more the sort of thing I am after, however it brings me to the reason that I decided to ask on the Ubuntu forums.
I am a big open source fan and try not to use anything...
iPod touch doesn't have mobile internet access. It requires a wireless network :(
Thanks for the reply but I am looking for something with the same sort of functionality as the iphone/G1 (meaning downloadable apps, internet browser etc) but without the phone part since I hardly...
Just a quick question about MIDs since google isn't much help because of the keywords needed to search.
Do MIDs only have WiFi access (only able to connect to wireless access points or wireless...

Type
sudo make install
The password is the same as your user password.
You can run it as root by hitting alt+f2 and typing
gksudo gparted
Try dropping to a terminal (in GNOME) by hitting ctrl+alt+F1 and log in. Then type
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
Could you try posting the output of
sudo fdisk -l
Also, are you running the partition editor as root?
I know it's not the best solution but Notepad++ works through wine. Gedit does syntax highlighting also though as long as you create a file with the extension that you want first.
Before you do, try booting into a root recovery console and typing
dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
A solution for Guitar Pro is Tuxguitar. The ubuntu repos don't have the latest version so i recommend you downloading it from sourceforge or the Tuxguitar site. It even opens Powertab (.ptb) files...
There is no way to create a windows vitrual machine without the CD or CD image (.iso) file. Sorry.
I know Amarok can but that's for KDE, I think Banshee can, give that a go.
