I've been messing with xscreensaver but haven't been able to find any way to make it run a command.
I'm looking for something that will run a script when there is no mouse movement detected after a certain length of time. It doesn't have to stop the program when the mouse moves again, I just want...
Here is the problem:

I discovered last night that if I start the hangout, invite someone and wait long enough, a picture from my webcam will come up however, it's just a single frame and never seems to progress to an...
I've just connected my PC directly to the firewall, eliminating the other PCs, switches, APs and devices on the network. The still not sending out video. The problem is definitely with the Kubuntu...
I have iptables running on Kubuntu 12.04 on a quad core 3GHz PC with 8GB of RAM.
No devices inside the network are able to send out video to google hangouts. Not PCs, droids, or android tablets....
I updated today, nothing special. Just ran apt-get update, then rebooted and now kde-window-manager is broken.
I have no idea how to fix this. Here is a snippet from me trying to get it installed:...
After considerable toil and turmoil, I found the source of the problem. I had suspected an MTU issue early on but after tweaking settings on my wireless routers, my firewall and the Wii-U, I gave up...
I'm not convinced that it's iptables. It might be something else that's going on, which is why I tried an earlier kernel and tried disabling apparmor. No dice though.
It's a real stumper.
I...
Other things I've tried:
I've opened the firewall up completely, allowing all traffic through.
I've explicitly allowed all traffic on all ports, to and from the Wii-U.
I've tried running several...
Wait, I've been watching it for a while and something started to come up:
Um... can anyone translate?
I have a PC acting as a firewall and router, using iptables. We have a Wii-U inside the network and until a few days ago, it was able to connect to the internet just fine. I upgraded the firewall PC...
Yup, that was it. Something was missing. I let the site generate a new sources.list for me and everything is installing fine now.
Thank you!
Thanks for responding so fast. I ran that command and this is what it returned:
libgtk2.0-0:

I upgraded to precise a few days ago using 'do-release-upgrade' from the command line.
I was prompted this morning to upgrade some software and I let it run. It promptly uninstalled chrome, gimp,...
Well I guess it's finally time to upgrade him then. I think I've stretched that hardware about as far as it's going to go.
Thanks for all the responses guys!
Yes, I expanded the details. Pepper flash is not listed.
It is an older PC, maybe 7 or 8 years old.
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Linux 3.2.0-34-generic on i686
Google Chrome 23.0.1271.95
I also removed .config/google-chrome from his home directory to make sure that there was nothing in there that could be fouling things up.
Nope, definitely chrome. Also, I upgraded him to precise about an hour ago. Before the upgrade I did an apt-get remove google-chrome-stable --purge to make sure chrome was completely gone, then...
I've had to give up on adobe flash and gnash for my son's PC. Most websites using flash complain that the version of flash installed is too old and won't run.
So I am trying to use chrome's built...
Yup! That did it. I had to add this line to my iptables.rules:
-A FORWARD -i eth1 -o eth0 -j ACCEPTThank you!
Here is the setup. I have a kubuntu box, running iptables, acting a router/firewall.
Internal=eth0 192.168.1.1
External=eth1 DHCP
I am able to redirect ports for the server itself just fine, using...
Had the exact same problem. This solution worked for me as well.
Thanks!
Now THAT is a great idea! I think that is the route I'll take with this.
I know that steam and windows update need to get out over port 80 so I can set permit rules in privoxy to allow access to...
