Re: End of road for Rhythmbox

Rhythmbox is my default player - I love it! When I first moved to linux I tried all sorts of media players and RB was my favourite. Combine it with Desktop Art and you've got a great player

  5. [ubuntu] PC hangs, freezes on boot when ethernet cable is plugged in

When my ethernet cable is plugged in Ubuntu will not boot up. It hangs or freezes up. The message on screen says Configuring network interfaces.... and it doesn't progress any further.

[other] Re: connecting to Ethernet with GNOME

I have had experience with it saying network unclaimed. This means there is no driver for your ethernet card/adaptor. I think the linux driver for your realtek device is called r8169 so if you do ...

  19. [ubuntu] Re: Wireless works perfectly but wired seems to have dns issues

Been looking into how drivers work on Ubuntu.

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Wireless works perfectly but wired seems to have dns issues

I didn't blacklist anything and I've already removed ndiswrapper. Removing it is what seems to have taken the native driver away with it. So I need to get the default drivers back, I thought they...
  21. [ubuntu] Re: Wireless works perfectly but wired seems to have dns issues

Is it possible to launch into a livecd and copy the ethernet driver from there into lib/modules or something like that?
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Wireless works perfectly but wired seems to have dns issues

It was suggested to use ndiswrapper to install the ethernet driver but nothing happened so I uninstalled ndiswrapper and the whole lan has gone missing. I just used the jaunty alpha 4 live cd and it...

  25. [ubuntu] Re: Wired connection will only go on certain sites

It's not a browser issue. I've already tried it with Opera and Konqueror, and also update manager, synaptic, pidgin, etc will not connect. It is a networking issue.
