When my ethernet cable is plugged in Ubuntu will not boot up. It hangs or freezes up. The message on screen says Configuring network interfaces.... and it doesn't progress any further.

Thanks, I had conky showing noswap% after a partition resize, this worked and took about 30 seconds to do

dmesg | grep swap gives no results.

swapon -a results in swapon: cannot stat /dev/disk/by-uuid/910cb725-19fd-4989-afbb-a906924bd19b: No such file or directory

blkid results in /dev/sda1:...

I resized my partition and now it says noswap%

It's not a browser issue. I've already tried it with Opera and Konqueror, and also update manager, synaptic, pidgin, etc will not connect. It is a networking issue.
