    Yes there is a 2gb swap. Slagginess is caused from exchanging data with the swap.


    I think it does use as when the flash plugin crushes there is a notification on all the tabs that require flash...

    If you are using nautilus, the file browser of gnome, then AFAIK there is no undo for the operations you are asking. Not sure about thunar in xfce and dolphin in kde.

    Then you are using the wrong distro. Ubuntu has always been aimed at the masses. If minimalism is what you are after there a dozen of other distros which are so much ligther.

    xubuntu and lubuntu are good options. You may want to still use 10.04 which is a LTS release if your question is what options are available.
