I recently installed Kubuntu on my Compaq SR1920NX and I've noticed that the resolution was stuck at 800x600 it can go higher upto 400x300 or something like that. But it wont go to 1024x768. I know...

I tried installing using this guide, everything went flawlessly, till the last part.. for the output I get:

this fixed it:

sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /home/recklezz/Desktop/mybook -o force

i tried adding it without the space, and i still get permissions denied. =[

this is what came up:

thats is correct. and when i did that, i got:

mount: can't find /dev/sdb1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

i did as was told. and this is what came up:

mount: can't find dev/sdb1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

I connected my MyBook just now, and when I try to access it, it says permission denied.
Before I had this error, it would say that I had to add:


/dev/sdb1 /media/My Book ntfs-3g force 0 0...

i actually have not, but i am afraid to, because what if it doesnt work? =[
i have, but the only thing i have found out about is the older versions of ubuntu.

anyone please? will the Compaq Presario v5000 work with Ubuntu Hardy Heron?

I want to switch to Ubuntu from Windows XP x86, but I want to know if it will work flawlessly, if anyone can, can you give me an opinion if my Compaq Presario V5000 would work? Thank you.
