actually, I did finally upgrade to natty AND I installed it over the Win partition and everything, so the machine's MS free :D
well the power consumption is not a problem yet -the machine's new and so is the battery, but I believe it would stretch the battery time. And mainly, the fan is driving me crazy when it's cooling...

I have asus 1215n with intel d525 processor, which is running on full 1800Mhz no matter the load. Having dual-boot, I checked it both in Win7 & Ubuntu 10.10
it seems like the scaling is locked...
1) 10.10 (maverick)
2) Asus
3) 1215n
works oob with minor issues (wifi driver needs to be installed (System->Administration->Additional Drivers), DO NOT install the nVidia driver yet)

yeah, I tried the command with both / and | and your assumption is correct.
I tried to install the lpphy firmware but it gave me error claiming there's no compatible HW for it so it will not be...
I forgot to add that the only additional drivers in jockey-gtk are the Broadcom STA & nVidia driver (both disabled)
so... I didn't ahave the b43 driver, so the output of the first 2 is:
