To get rid of the extra entries in the "Open with..."->"Show More Applications" context menu, I removed some .desktop files within

  2. [SOLVED] Removing entries for suggested applications

This should be an easy fix, but I can't find anything in Google because the search always brings up results for how to remove the application completely. I've already deleted these programs (the...

[ubuntu] Re: Handbrake locks up system

You might just have a buggy version of Handbrake. Try adding a different PPA (I use the snapshot one with no problems) to see if the new version fixes your issues.

Also, Handbrake can lock up on...

Those are quite difficult instructions, but thanks anyway. :)
I'm looking for a simple tethering program. Do they exist for Linux?
  7. [ubuntu] Re: 11.04 Banshee Crash, "Encountered a fatal error"

Good idea, but the directory is under /home/USER/.cache/.banshee-1 and /home/USER/.config/banshee-1

I deleted both directories and Banshee starts up again correctly.

  9. [SOLVED] Re: Can't open hard drive partitions from places menu.

Don't worry about your .nautilus folder being empty. It will fill up with stuff after you use Nautilus for a while.

Are you using the most recent version of Nautilus? Have you updated in a while?

  12. [SOLVED] Re: How do I clear all those ubuntu version messages?

    This is (almost) foolproof.
Each time Ubuntu updates the Linux kernel, it keeps the old one on your computer - just in case the new one doesn't work. Over time, the kernels will accumulate and take...

    [ubuntu] Re: Trash Problems

In my experience, running "sudo nautilus" or "gksu nautilus" doesn't have Trash.
Since it is the superuser or administrator, you've got to be careful! There isn't an easy safety net if you need that...
  14. [SOLVED] Re: Can't open hard drive partitions from places menu.

I would suggest deleting your .nautilus file under /home/USER/.nautilus .

This clears out the cache and it will rebuild automatically.
