I have the exact same problem as adds2one, if I run "sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart" after logging in, the ntfs partition appears, but after restarting it's gone from the desktop and "computer" again,...
I've narrowed my problem down to the partition. I tried mounting my other ntfs partition with ntfs-3g and tranferring files to it was fine. Could it be that the partition's size is bothering...
yes. copying files FROM the ntfs-3g partition is normal speed. (well its fast enough or whatever, it doesn't take ages)

I'm having a problem. The ntfs-3g partition I have is really slow. Copying files takes forever! Just FYI I'm using the i686-smp kernel, that's the only main thing I've modified for my Ubuntu install....
