[SOLVED] Re: No sound in precise after kernel upgrade

Yep, same here. Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit) and HP Pavilion DV6. The 3.2.0-24 kernel works fine. Is there a bug filed against this somewhere?

    Re: Very Beta Forum Theme

Here's something that came to mind. Until Precise, and for years (since Dapper, I believe), Nautilus in Ubuntu has had an orange icons-on-white theme by default. Granted, the orange has evolved over...

    Re: Very Beta Forum Theme

I think, provided the official color guidelines and whatnot allow, that there should be more contrast in the active icons between the darker and lighter variants (e.g. New Posts vs No New Posts)....

    Re: Very Beta Forum Theme

I was wondering when something like this would come along. The new branding has been around for a while, after all. I'll have to sift through the many replies to this thread before I say more, but in...

    [SOLVED] Re: A eeePc1101ha and 12.04

I second Mike's advice. I've gotten this very model working following the steps on that page, as well as poking around the GMA500 thread here:

[all variants] Re: Guide to Get the Best Performace from the GMA 500

Just thought I'd add my experience to the thread. Using either the PSB or the EMGD drivers on Maverick-era (10.10) Lubuntu, I was able to get decently snappy 2D performance and was able to play...

[SOLVED] Re: Where exactly will this be archived?

    QQ, here we come...

...and this time I resolve to stick with it, all the way through. And no more VB half measures for me, either. Real hardware. I've got a test machine in mind, now that I'm no...

    Re: Release Time

I followed the Alternative Downloads link at the bottom of the download page and the torrents seem to be downloading--I'm hoping the links are to the release proper and not an earlier version.

    Re: Release Time

Good point. I'm just interested in getting the torrents so I can help ease up some of the bandwidth crunch--I'm sitting on a perfectly good Precise install I've been updating since Beta 2 and I'm not...

    Re: Release Time

Now it's released. And the site is predictably swamped, which is interesting because it reveals that they apparently use Drupal.
  11. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

Just to bring this thread back up from the depths one last time, it seems this issue has been solved in an upcoming update (it's currently in precise-proposed). I've been testing version 0ubuntu5.1...
  12. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

Done. Hopefully the ball can get rolling on this now. I'm glad I was able to help, even if it was just installing and testing a few different versions of a package.
  13. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

The next version up (ubuntu4, one version before the current one) worked without fault after day of testing. The current version still freezes up, so that seems to indicate that the bug is in the...

Re: Ban The User Above You.

Banned because this thread started two and a half years ago when Karmic was still being tested and I can't believe it's still going.
  16. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

64 bit here. I'll go ahead and update to the next version and see what happens.
  17. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

After about a day I haven't had the scrolling lock up once, so I think that's a pretty strong indication that the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package is the culprit here. Now we need to figure out...
  18. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

Thanks a bunch! So far, so good. I've got the older version locked so I don't have to worry about it getting upgraded accidentally, and I'll be watching to see what happens with that package in the...
  19. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

It just happened again, and it seems to affect almost all programs. Except, I've noticed that the programs with normal (non-slim) scrollbars (e.g. Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice) seem to work...

    Re: New Login Sound?

For some reason I thought that the sound indicator icon was just a global volume control like the one on the panel once I'd logged in, meaning I'd have to remember to unmute every time I logged in...
  21. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

I've noticed it in Update Manager as well. I'll have to check if it affects other programs the next time it happens. I know it doesn't seem to affect Firefox as it often goes unnoticed until I open...

    Re: New Login Sound?

That caveat is kind of vague. More human and less synthesized? I'll get right on that--let me just run that sound through the humanizer and desynthesizer plugins.

    If I'm understanding this...
  23. Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

Put in my two cents at the bug as this affects me, too. I've been getting it sporadically now for a week or so, with no discernible pattern. A reboot solves it for a while, but then it comes right...

[SOLVED] Re: Unity poster (feedback please)

    Re: Login drum sound

I just replaced it with a tiny .ogg file of silence. I agree that there should be some way of disabling this, either via GUI or else dconf or something. Expecting people to get in the habit of muting...
