    It's a known problem with the drivers related to your network card.
    you need to completely shut off power (psu switch/unplug cord) to reset the network adapter when using the wrong driver ( r8169 )...

    One problem is that it needs to be redone everytime a kernel upgrade is pushed out.

    hi and straight to the point:

    I've got an old NIN cd (1994) that contains just audio and ubuntu refuses to mount it.

    I have win7 (x64) on my other hd and it has no problems reading or playing...

    I realized I was in error, port 53 is for dns. and 68, iirc, is for dhcp. (fixed my prev. post)

    I tested allowing out 53/udp and it worked.

    outgoing DNS queries use udp port 53.
    Allow that traffic and the IPs should be able to be resolved.

    Edit: fixed an error.
