  3. Re: Google Earth Is Going To Be Ported To Linux?

My bet is that they'll "port" using winelib which is about the same as saying "**** you very much"

    Re: Security practices with Wine

You are probably putting it at some considerable risk - WINE isa bug by bug compatible implementation.
  5. Re: Technically restricting non-free software in ubuntu

Even the FSF disagrees with you on that one, the BSD License is a free software license and it's 100% GPL compatible to boot.

Re: Marketing: That's what ubuntu need!

How about we start with a rock solid, kickass product and then do the cheesy marketing stunts?

    Re: Alien conspiracys

Might I suggest http://podcast.seti.org - their excellent podcast regularly debunks UFO claims as well as other irrational behaviour.

    Re: Alternative to Google please

Someone has to mention Mircosoft's search engine Live! just to be fair - it actually not halfbad to be honest although it seems slow compared to Google.

Re: Can Ubuntu Dapper Do All This?

To every question involving "can GNU/Linux do this" the answer is normally yes unless it's "Can GNU/Linux get me laid" in which case the answer is sadly not with 100% cerrtainty.

    Re: New Podcast Co-Host (looking)

I see you have bandwidth problems, why don't you just put the files under a CC license and use the Internet Archive for storage - I've seen plenty of podcasts do something similar.

  14. Re: I'm looking for a good book on linux (and Ubuntu if possible)...

Linux Quick Fix Notebook is a really good reference book geared towards newcomers but it's still usable once you get your feet wet.

    Re: Firefox vs. Epiphany

What we need is XULRunner which is basically the gecko engine seperated out. The way things should be..

I suggest voting for that for Edgy Eft.

Re: Ubuntu getting faster and faster?

nVidia cards will work out of the box, however given strict freedom guidelines you will get no 3d acceleration - that is an issue I would recommend you take up with nVidia.

    So as you can see...

I really like Spatial, I don't think much about how I use it - it just seems to naturally conform to my filebrowsing habits.
