Thanks, found some info on the keyboard layout (...
That probably xplains why I have had serious graphic card problems lately - https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2493512
Beyond Compare can do this, I've used it for years. The download is at https://www.scootersoftware.com/download/ , from memory it's a 30 day usage for the trial/free.
The graphics card on a laptop has been giving errors and lately just see a blank screen, but it does work sometimes. I have been using an external monitor connected to the HDMI port, it is setup...

@sudodus , thanks for your help.
Yes, and the solution may only fit my needs of course. The best solution for all who wish to mount a EXT4 formatted usb on Windows would be for the WSL team to...
Hmm, so a few hours still trying to get wsl to mount the usb, and then noticed it was a "feature request" on the wsl issues on https://github.com/microsoft/WSL.
If I use NTFS or MS-DOS/VFAT etc...
@sudodus - The saga continues. Formatting the usb may make Win10 'happy', but for any file copying on Kubuntu, there are many files being skipped
So now I will have to reformat to EXT4 for...
@sudodus - you are welcome :)
I tried many methods from articles and still couldn't get it to mount the EXT4 usb. I had an appointment and had to rush, so just threw all the commands in a file. So the following are all bits and...
@sudodus - thanks. The copy to the usb was SO much faster when I formatted it to EXT4. Previously it was MSDOS, incredibly slow. As long as Windows 10 can read the (ext4) formatted usb contents.

@sudodus , thanks very much for your reply, much appreciated. I forgot to mention that I was wanting to wipe the drive only. I did that with mkusb, then of course I couldn't mount it. So I had to...
I just purchased a 128 Gb Sandisk USB 3.0 flash drive. Loaded it and Dolphin tells me it is only 114.6 Gb. The same issue is reported at...
Well, you did all the work. :D
Oh yes, you are correct, thanks.
On the surface, all I use any connection for is Claws-mail, beyond Compare and Firefox. Meaning that is all that is installed that is traffic "out". There is a...
The rules are now down to only IP specific
sudo ufw status verbose
I removed the "V6" rules.
Thanks, it seems I don't need it, as the Samba sharing works fine without the firewall rules for "V6". An interesting tests at https://ipv6-test.samba.org/ and https://test-ipv6.com/
Have done some searching to find out what the "V6" means and no definite answers, so just keeping it simple for now.
sudo ufw status verbose
All the traffic is to be kept to the LAN only, so yes, just one IP.
Okay thanks, I use passwords now, but will make the shift to keys.
Thanks for reminding me, I have:
@Morbius1 - I have read many "how to's" about Linux/Win10 and Samba shares. Your guide at https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2483788&p=14130598#post14130598 was the only one that worked for...
It's more than complete, it is awesome. I basically used all the same commands and it worked on the WIN10 box immediately.
Only a few questions ..
1. What privileges did you have for user...
Thank you muchly, you did quite a number of steps that I didn't do. It's worth a try again, thanks. With KDE, I just use "Kate" for an editor.
Do you have the full instructions documented please ? From start to finish.
My perception was based on my experiences, which were a result of much frustration. Linux/Ubuntu networking simply works out of the box, with good security.
The Beyond Compare SFTP client...
That's quite some testing there. You are much more proficient with Samba/shares than me. I have to stick with what works now, the SSH/SFTP side of things.
Possibly why your WIN10 machine...
