    Re: Vi acting strangely

I have vim-full installed, but I've noticed a strange quirk.

When you yank a line (Vy) and then open the file explorer (:e.) and scroll to a new file, pasting (p) pastes a blank line, not what...

    No problem my friend.

I don't know enough to guess at what's causing the problem on your end. I'm still a hack when it comes to things like this. I went though a bunch of edits on mine,...

Im using Dapper. As far as I know swap is active, though I certainly haven't had to use it yet.

    Re: Quake4 voices

'ps' shows alll running processes. the 'ax' are options passed to 'ps'. 90% of the time when you use 'ps' you are going to use the 'ax' options. Why it's not set up that way by default, I don't...

    Re: Quake4 voices

    Looks exactly like mine.

I had some problems with a login sound hanging up and locking the sound.

'ps ax |grep sound' found the problem. Once I got rid of the sound process that was hanging...

    Re: Quake4 voices

I had to change the following:
    seta s_driver "default"

    to:

    seta s_driver "oss"

    that did it for me.

There are 2 directories with the same name. q4base is in /usr/local/games/quake4 as well as your home directory under .quake4. The config file is in your home directory.

Re: Do you know MySQL? Do you want work?

There has *got* to be more of a trick to it than just that. That's what I did, over and over, with no success, just lockups.

Your Access mojo must be greater than mine.

Re: Do you know MySQL? Do you want work?

So how do you go about connecting Access to Mysql? I'm beyond needing it, but I have friends that aren't.

We are talking about using an Access .mdb to contain forms, queries and reports that are...

Re: Do you know MySQL? Do you want work?

I was totally unable to use Access as a front end. No matter what I did, it would crash as soon as I loaded the ODBC driver. Total lockup- and this was back when I still ran XP. I chalked it up to...

Re: Do you know MySQL? Do you want work?

In my case it was simpler to just dump the tables as text files, load then into mysql, and rebuild the front end.

It wasn't a trival amount of work, but it was completely worth it

  17. Poll: Re: In your opinion is Ubuntu a serious rival for OSX and the upcoming Windows Vista?

Unfortunately it isnt quality that sells. Its mediocrity.

Look at any field, the 'popular' product or person is rarely the best, and often not even particularly good. This applies to software,...
