How's the Xonar DX (Not D2X) working on a fresh 8.04 install?
Does it work? If not, does it work if you update ALSA?

It is true that Dell is going to start shipping PCs with linux installed on requested.
Whether or not it will be Ubuntu is rumor. They may choose Ubuntu, they may choose another distro, they may...
I have ATi. I like it. Works well.
But anyone who votes that ATi works better than nvidia in a linux environment is fooling themselves.
That, and Intel's "64 bit" is trash. Best to stick to 32.
Sorry. They screwed up.

Don't hold your breath.
OpenGL runs faster than D3D in most cases.
Stealth, the reason it's running slower is because you're using ATI. ATI is phenominal in a windows environment IMO. In linux, not so much. They are...
edit: nm, read the whole post ><
RO is not supported by Transgaming and listed as very low playability. Meaning, even if you did get it working, it likely wouldn't function as it should.
sudo apt-get install wine
Should be all you need to do.
You could just use Point2Play. It's a graphical front end for Cedega. Makes life alot more simple.
I use P2P as well. It's still Cedega, just with a graphical front end for easy setting configuration.
The DVD version of WoW only shows the mac version for some reason. Use the CD version, works...
I wasn't comparing them to pen and paper RPG's. I just meant that most Japanese "RPG" games are more just linear interactive stories. They're most of them missing an actual role playing element to...
I've just been in the retail parts game too long and I've become somewhat bitter with their excessive marketting and trumpeting of the most inconsequential of accomplishments, their benchmark...
I'll stick with ATI so long as they keep improving their drivers.
I've seen how Nvidia conducts business, and I'd rather not support them.
God prays? To whom? :)
I wouldn't qualify most of what comes out of Japan as RPG's. Story/Adventure maybe.
I installed it once on another Ubuntu install and it worked fine.
I installed it on my main machine and for some reason it didn't wanna start.
I found, however, that it works just fine if I start...
I'm using Ubuntu for gaming with ATI. Honestly, there's not alot I can't play on it. Some things require some tinkering to get them to work the way you want, but all-in-all, the only game I haven't...
I don't know if this has been done already. Probably. But I searched and found nothing, so if not, here it is.
Desktops, let's see em. :)
Is there any noteable benefit in going from 2.6.10 to 2.6.11?
If there's not much to gain then I don't think I'll bother until we see an official ubuntu release of the 8.14.13 ATI drivers. They...
Question regarding this.
My driver is listed as "fglrx". I'm using ATI's 8.14.13 drivers. Do I still enter 'vesa' ? What does that mean? Will I have to reinstall my ATI drivers after recompiling...
Epskampie,
This is, without a doubt, the best first post by any user on any forum ever!
That Epskampie is a computer genius man! Let's do a dance for the computer genius man!

Okay, I'm going outta my mind trying to get these to work.
There's been so many add-ons and corrections to the tutorial that I don't know what to do anymore and I'm obviously screwing up...

Most WoW + Cedega/P2P issues and fixes can be found there.
I installed using OP's howto and it's not working. I'm running glxgears at 150fps. Is this what I need to do to fix it? And where exactly do I insert this step? Thank you.
