In old GRUB I could do this permanently...
Same problem here as well... what a weird bug.

I'm not giving up on it yet... but that is pretty crap :-/
Try this, I've been finding others having issues with having "Dual CPU" enabled in the BIOS.
Disable "Dual CPU" and try again...

I've just made a USB boot thumb drive using USB-Imagewriter (Easy install) and on Tuesday I'll be getting a free 2140 from Tech Ed Australia that I intend to boot from.
I'll see if I can duplicate...
I've just finished installing the UNR img to a brand new 4 gig usb drive and now the USB drive thinks its just under 1 gig in size?!?
Does this process somehow stop me being able to partition off...
I've seen it run pretty good on an Asus EEE... I expect this thing to do that at least... plus if it can handle the win7 ultimate edition bloat.. it should breeze through with compiz
One of the "gimmicks" is that they'll be giving every full price paying attender a HP 2140 laptop with Win7 and Office 2010.
I plan on installing Ubuntu immediately :-D
Any tips on how I can...
Am going to MS TechEd this year, and this year they're giving this laptop away for free :-)

I recorded a flack file on this machine, and I can play it easy enough but I can't seem to edit it.
If I open it with Audacity it shows me a blank file (no audio) I also tried ReZound and it gives...
I'm trying desperately to archive off a bunch of pictures that I want to share, but f-spot keeps crashing.
I couldn't copy and paste the whole output of the shell session but I hope this helps...

I ran an inplace upgrade and though it looks like it mostly worked it refuses to use the 8.10 kernels...
If I select one of those kernels in the grub menu I get a message that says:
Error 21 :...
Oddly enough the upgrade went smoothly for me except it refused to load the 8.10 kernel
It's still running
I subscribed to Cedega for over a year and found the company progressively less and less responsive.
The software was pretty good in general, though I was annoyed with the slow response to new...
having broken my box many many times trying the various different ways to manually install nvidia drivers envy is bloody brilliant!
but no, it doesn't have 177.80 in it yet.
Does anyone know how...
Perfect! thanks!
The following is what I get if I try to update my install:
mybox@mybox-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get -f upgrade
[sudo] password for mybox:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree ...
nope i386 binaries only.
I'll only bump it once.. I promise :-)
I've had this bugging me for weeks now and I want to get it fixed..
I've tried the edit -> fix broken packages -> mark all upgrades etc etc but it's not working.
If I look to see what is marked...
Sounds perfect, will give it a go when I get home.
I _refuse_ to use windows at home, so no dual boot.
We play Quake 4, UT2004, Doom3, Quake 3, NWN, Serious Sam 2, ET:QW...
I hear the guys are...

Actually its been a while since I've tried compiz + games at the same time... It's performing a _lot_ better now.. its not so bad.
