  1. [ubuntu] 3D on an ATI Technologies Inc Device 6804?

    Folks—

    I understand that the device mentioned in the subject line is inbuilt to the AMD processor which sits in my shiny new Compaq Presario CQ57. The line from lspci is:

    [all variants] Apache 2.2.20

    I just read that Apache had released 2.2.20, which fixes a rather nasty DOS vulnerability. Any ideas on release schedules for the supported Ubuntu versions?

    Thanks,

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04.02 amd64 freeze problem

    For what it's worth, the Errors on fsck make sense considering it's trying to use e2fsck on a swap partition. I tend to doubt that the HDD has been toasted unless you have some sort of funky BIOS...

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04.02 amd64 freeze problem

    Okay, scratch what I was about to write. Another poster came up with this solution: next step, replace cables. This should be your first hardware level test. If replacement of cables doesn't...

    [SOLVED] Making the 11.04 upgrade blurb go away

    My story thus far:

    I have a working, fairly customized desktop environment running Ubuntu Studio 10.10. Yesterday, I literally wasted the entire day attempting to upgrade to, and then reverting...

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04.02 amd64 freeze problem

    Daniel—

    Silly question, but have you performed a manual fsck on all your partitions? If not, give it a shot and see what comes up. Also, I'm not sure if the kernel ring buffer will record...

    [ubuntu] Configuring x.org default states w/HAL

    Folks—

    This question may very well have been answered elsewhere, but my Google-fu seems to have failed me yet again. Here's the situation:

    GDB and the C++ libraries

    So I was to figure out why cin won't block after dumping the input buffer when piping data into the program. As it turned out, I discovered the easiest thing to do was to make piped input an error...

    Cessusbangy—

    Have you tried using the command-line version of recordmydesktop? I've not had any luck whatsoever in using the GUI frontends thereto.

    Here's the command line I use:

    [ubuntu_studio] Re: How to get this thing working

    Pablo—

    Cool. Based upon my needs, though, I'm thinking that an RT kernel might be overkill for me. That, and it seems that I can get jackd to run properly now, whether it be the onboard sound or...
  12. [ubuntu_studio] Re: Jittery Timidity conversion MIDI -> WAV

    Karl—

    I think your problem lies in the configuration of the instrument you're using. In listening to your .mp3, I heard a patch setup which had a rather slow attack for the tempo you were using....

    [ubuntu] Re: Ffmpeg Screencasts Out of Sync ;_;

    Just out of curiosity: Have you tried looking at the -vsync parameter of ffmpeg?

    I'm experiencing a similar issue where screencast frames will significantly lead audio, then later on will sync...

    [ubuntu_studio] Re: How to get this thing working

    Once again, Pablo, thanks. I've changed qjackctl to kill pulseaudio on startup. I did, however, discover that I have rather a significant interrupt conflict:

    Thanks, Pablo, for the reply. As it turns out, QSynth was part of the default install.

    So, here's what I'm faced with when I attempt to start JACK from qjackctl:

    [ubuntu_studio] How to get this thing working

    I hate to admit it, but I'm at my wits' end. Timidity works on the command line, but only if I haven't started jackd. I can't get jackd to run properly (continuous xruns), and I can't get clients...
