Yes, if I remember correctly, it got its name from the old Webcrawler site which used a spider and web as its logo. As a Biology teacher, I would probably say something about an eight-legged...
Agreed, there are a few processes I am constantly having to kill. One is the Skyrocket screensaver after unlocking the desktop--it proceeds to take one of the cores up to 100% and stay there. (The...
Are you using xscreensaver? If so, does this occur after the screensaver has just been disengaged?
Same issue from here as well.
Agreed, on the desktop computer, my favorite is to install Ubuntu with the Unity Desktop, install the Xubuntu Desktop, and then personalize the XFCE. I use a mix of the two sets of applications. The...
I ran into the same problem when looking for my favorite screensaver, the "Skyrocket". The following instructions worked for me on Oneiric 11.10.

Unity will let you do that. Just change the size of the windows and put them where you would like them.
Sounds like something got messed up on the upgrade. With previous upgrades, I have experienced this. However for this distribution, I have updated three machines with three different configurations...

This worked for me as well. Thanks!
Same problem here. I am also having trouble getting it to work with:
export http_proxy="http://username:password@my.proxy.org:port"
It worked with previous releases.
I gave up and did a fresh install on the two machines which were both giving me this error. On the Dell Precision 370, fresh install was perfect--just worked, right out of the box. On the Dell...
Any suggestions on how to resolve this error? I am getting this same error, only I am attempting to upgrade to 10.04 LTS. This is the official, stable release.--Mark
OK, this is a bit more modern than the equipment I am used to. However, there should be someone here that can help you. Have you checked the hardware compatibility lists?
Can you give us a little more information about your computer and its configuration? I have had this same trouble as you, but it was a number of years ago on an HP a305w--the fan sounded like it was...
