I'm new with this whole Linux thing, so I don't know what a ppa is, but I, too, would like to run Sigil on my Ubuntu box.
So does the ppa install Sigil? How? Just double clicky?
Well, it now works fine. Have no real idea why, though perhaps unplugging some hardware and plugging it back in helped.

Opened up System/Administration/Disk Utility, and the SMART data declares the "Disk is healthy." Is this to be trusted?
