Amazon is the ticket. Hope this helps others. I was really furious about this issue until I discovered the problem...and spending God know how much for three USB to Serial cables from $12 to $19...
The problem is the cable, not Ubuntu. I tried with THREE different types of USB to Parallel cables with zilch for luck. Only when I used a Belkin USB to parallel adapter is everything working...
Thanks for the info Brandon. In the meantime, I figured out a solution to the problem. Everything works perfectly EXCEPT Dictionary Editing on 10.04.1 LTS, so I just installed Intrepid in a VMware...
Thank you for your suggestion. How do I contact the upstream developers?
On 10.04 LTS I still experience a sefault in dosemu with one program that is critical to our business. I have been unable to find a solution other than using kernel 2.6.27 where the program works...
Ahem...excuse me. No. It still doesn't work even with a clean install. Segfaults on one critical DOS application.
I believe it's a kernel problem. I, too, have to stay stuck at 2.6.27-11; otherwise I have regressions in my dos applications. Kernels 2.6.28 and beyond cause segfaults in my applications. Too bad...
Here's how I did it after dosemu was already installed from the repositories and working, but I required a private MSDOS622:
1. Launch a terminal.
2. cp /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf...
DOSEMU bugs need resolution!!!
My drivers are up-to-date. There is no way to choose beyond 800X600. I'm truly at a loss. Anyone?
Does ANYONE know how to increase the resolution on the machine from 800 x 600? I'm using Intrepid, FWIW. It does not have an ATI graphics card; rather, an Intel one. No matter what I try, I cannot...
Acronis True Image 11 to an external USB Drive. I create a full backup image and verify it, then do incremental thereafter.
Yes, we're sticking with Jaunty until the dosemu "issue" with crashing is fixed; otherwise, we cannot go forward. I believe it's kernel-related but it is a critically serious issue for the thousands...
The "we" is those of us who work in the United States Courts. The DOS program is TurboCAT which is used in dosemu on Ubuntu which, last time I checked, was Linux. Is that helpful? I believe it's a...
Installing Firefox 3.5 resolved the crashing issue for me. I'd suggest that as a solution. I haven't had a crash since, FWIW.
It is TurboCAT Professional when using the dictionary editor. I checked the bug report, so it seems like I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. Hopefully, it will be corrected so we can move...
Why does DOSEMU SEGfault in some DOS applications on kernel 2.6.28-15.generic, while it does not on kernel 2.6.27-11? What changes have taken place in the kernel to cause this issue we're...
Trendnet Gigabit Router.
For whatever reason, DOSEMU crashes on one particular program with this kernel but not on 2.6.27-11. Something has changed and/or is missing that needs correction as the particular program in...
Without question Compiz fusion is quite compelling and awesome. I cannot imagine working without it. I never turn it off, not for movies, not for games, nada. Works beautifully here.
IMO it...
Here's another view with Cairo-Dock 2.0rc.
Here's mine with the new Cairo-Dock 2.0rc.
Download the Vmware Workstation bundle 6.5 instead and install it.
For those lurking, we've discovered that "some" DOS programs crash with segfault errors on kernels beyond 2.6.27-11 but function fine on 2.6.27-11.
Hope this helps. We wonder why that is.
Joe
I'm using Compiz-Fusion on Jaunty. I also have the latest VMware installed. Running on Kernel Linux 2.6.28-12-generic. What I have sometimes noticed is that LEFT ALT + SUPER + TAB stops working...
