For installing windows, the filesystem has to be FAT32/NTFS. But the swap space is raw memory that doesn't persistently store stuff; as far as I know, it doesn't have a filesystem.
This link seems...
USB boot is something that you choose at your BIOS during bootup. If you have created a proper startup disk from the ubuntu iso, your system should boot from the USB.
Is that what you wanted or am...
I have partitioned my laptop as follows:
/ - 40 GB (includes /usr)
/opt - 20 GB
/home - 270 GB (or as big as you can spare)
/data - 280 GB (for storing my work)
swap - 6 GB
You may not need so much space for / (root) partition. It stores the system files and the various programs and libraries that you install. Less than half of what you've allocated currently...
That, I believe, gives your public IP. The 'ifconfig' command or the 'System Settings -> Network' (GUI way) give your IP address on your local network.
Have you tried selecting USB drive B as your destination drive for OS installation when you boot from USB drive A?
For your first question, you can print those pages to a pdf, using the normal print dialog box by pressing Ctrl+P from evince.
I have been running Ubuntu 12.04 on Lenovo Y570 since it's release. It all works fine.
You can get GT555M working with nvidia drivers using bumblebee and bbswitch. Once installed, you'll have to...
I've got a Lenovo Y570 too. I don't have the laptop-mode on, but sometimes, Ubuntu shuts down as soon as I disconnect AC power, even if the battery is charged to some extent.
I have a Lenovo Y570 too. I was able to install bumblebee and get specific programs to use the nvidia driver.
What are the things that you tried? Did you try installing bumblebee? Did it...
Hi, there's a workaround for this if you have a dual-boot system. Check this out.
Hi, thanks for the quick reply and the link! I found a similar solution here.
It appears to be a linux issue, not specific to Ubuntu - check this.
This is how I got it working - luckily, it so...
Hi, I have a Lenovo Y570 running Ubuntu 12.04 and I think I may have the same problems too. Wireless works but I can't enable bluetooth in System Settings -> Bluetooth. It stays disabled.
Well, the bluetooth is giving me problems again. It has gone back to the same old behaviour of staying disabled in Settings->Bluetooth even if the hardware switch is on and the wireless is working!
I updated ubuntu today and my bluetooth started working properly! I suggest you make sure you have the latest updates.
Did you manage to solve this problem? I have a Lenovo Y570 running 12.04 and I have the same problem. Wireless works fine but not bluetooth.
Short jumps work fine - the problem was with the laptop keyboard! But the problem with audio remains. Jumping/seeking to a position in many avi or mp4 files (that work fine in other...
The problem was with the ISP anyway! Solved it after weeks of trying out various things to get it working. Forgot to update it here!
Hi, thanks for your reply. Yeah, I would like to know how to add vlc to systray whitelist and also how to get vlc to show up when I click on speaker icon, like the way it shows up in your screenshot....
Thanks for the quick reply.
1. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I was referring to the vlc icon on the top panel in the desktop. Clicking on it shows 'Hide VLC media player in taskbar', Play, Stop,...
Did anyone else have problems with vlc 2.0.1 in 12.04? In a fresh, fully updated install of 12.04, I installed vlc from the repository. I found that quite a few things didn't work as expected....
I have Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit running on my machine. This morning, it refused to login (the login screen was stuck with 'Logging In' message). The only thing I was able to do was to click on...
Sorry to bring this up after about 9 months! Did you manage to connect your 8ta network using linux? Did you have to use software like wvdial or something like that, to establish...
