    Re: Debugging changes in code

you can certainly do set breakpoints, watches, step over, break at line number and a whole host of things with gdb. Try the tutorial http://www.delorie.com/gnu/docs/gdb/gdb_toc.html

    Re: GRUB2 Theming

Difficult to know, gfxmenu itself compiles to a module, but there are changes to the video sytem and so on within the grub version in karmic made by the gfxmenu code too, how essential these are i'm...

    Re: GRUB2 Theming

Either you have a different version of grub2 installed than the official one, such as the one in my ppa (If /boot/grub/gfxmenu.mod exists then you do)
Or you only have the background image installed...

Re: GRUB2 now with gfxmenu on oficial ubuntu repository?

gfxmenu is not in grub2 in ubuntu, because gfxmenu is not in grub2's own main repository yet! you could try bean123's development branch of grub2 at https://launchpad.net/burg but its a development...
  8. Re: What is the general concensus regarding Karmic Koala?

if your sound problem is a loud crack/popping sound even when muted after a period of not using any sound at all, you might want to try commenting out the line in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and...

    Re: Problem with OpenGL GLX

hi there, 'Packaging and Compiling' is probably not the best forum to get help with this sort of thing. You'll probably get more advice in one of the main support forums for this kind of problem
  11. Re: Guys I need your help for guiding us in our project

I suppose the simplest way I can think of of 'application rollback' is to keep a copy of the current packages before installing the new ones, though downgrading packages is less well tested than...

    Re: GRUB2 Theming

The message your getting is the result of
    /boot/grub/gfxmenu.mod
not existing. This means that you probably don't actually have the ppa version of grub-pc installed. Because these are older...
  13. Re: Compiz simple plugins 32-bit compile needed

Checkinstall is probably best thought of as a wrapper around 'make install' for apt (and other package managers). It watches what this would do then creates simple packages to allow easier...

    1. Activate trigger when package installs
In this case the package being installed...
  16. Re: anyone has been able to use virtualbox in karmic?

A custom kernel I'm guessing? dkms can't find the source to build the module against, try using dkms manually but adding a relevant --kernelsourcedir parameter so that it can find it
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Does anyone have Google Gadgets working with Karmic?

No clue at all, that did confuse me a bit. xulrunner-1.9.1 support hadnt been added yet so it shouldn't have been possible that it worked, who knows. I'm used to being confused though :)
  18. [SOLVED] Re: Does anyone have Google Gadgets working with Karmic?

js-script bug with xulrunner-1.9.1 and BadAtom on ggl-gtk should hopefully be cured in 0.10.5-0.2ubuntu2
seems to at least work in gtk/qt versions now

    Re: Dual GCC

You can pass the compiler as a environmental variable ie,

so you can have a number of different compilers installed and specify each one to configure as you see fit.
