your motherboard specs say it has 2 sata connectors, or in other words, 2 max drives. If the optical drive(dvd burner) is using one of these sata ports, then no it won't work, without another card.

Is your virtualbox set up as a bridged network, or NAT?

Like all network issues, you need to find where it is disconnecting, ie, is it a DNS issue, a hardware cable disconnect, wireless...

First check to see if its the host computer or vm. Boot into a live-cd and see if DHCP works. This should narrow it down if its the host or not.
