  1. Re: Added myself to group, removed me from all others

I seemed to have resolved the issue in post #5 by deleting the

    ~/.gnome2/keyrings/Default.keyring
  2. Re: Added myself to group, removed me from all others

I created some kind of new issue related to the previous post above.
When I accidentally removed myself from all other groups the previous night, today I added myself back to all the groups the...
  3. Re: Added myself to group, removed me from all others

    Thank you, bab1, and sisco311
I was searching all the group man pages except the one I needed: usermod.
Looks like it clearly explained the -a flag.

    Thanks guys
    Makes complete sense now.

  5. Added myself to group, removed me from all others

I looked through the man pages, but could not find the -G flag I used, demonstrated on a site.
I created a group called mygroup, and when I added my username to the group via terminal, it removed me...
  6. Re: Mounted drive fine, but strange UUID in file list

    Hi Wim

    EDIT

Ok, everything seems to be working now!

I think this was a permissions issue. I just needed to take ownership of the volume as it was set to root only. My fstab file seems to be...
  7. Re: Mounted drive fine, but strange UUID in file list

I don't think this is the case here Wim. Because when I mount a drive (Not using the sftab file) the system mounts hard drives at Media by defult.

This is getting more strange by the min.
    This...
  8. Mounted drive fine, but strange UUID in file list

I was following this advice here exactly.
After I got the UUID of the second partition on the second drive using sudo blkid, I added it to fstab like this..(substituting my UUID here).

  9. Re: Formated a drive but it went way too fast

    Good to know kurt, thanks
I acctuly created the NTFS volume and formatted that in while in Win7, and did the EXT4 in Lubuntu.

    I didn't know that 3rdalbum, Interesting.
    Thanks for this...
  10. Re: Formated a drive but it went way too fast

I didn't use a command as mentioned above.
I wanted to know if this could be done with the Disk manager? And being that the disk manager has an option to format the drive, why would it "default" to...
  11. Formated a drive but it went way too fast

I'm not sure what to make of this. In windows I always choose to do a long/slow format so windows can mark bad sectors on the drive. I never format with the quick option.
The other day I added a...
  12. [lubuntu] Re: apt-get install and remove method - make file?

I probably wouldn't have to do that anyway Zill.
Just seemed like an interesting read. Thanks for the warning. Being that the kernal of Linux is pretty common, it seems like most of these...
  13. [lubuntu] Re: apt-get install and remove method - make file?

    @oldos2er:
True. I was just saying when a program is installed, people still tend to call it a package in the linux world, or will often refer to removing a program as removing a package which sort...
  14. Re: Clone software for multi OS, Win7 and Lynux

Thanks for the flash tip sudodus!

By the way, I tried both CloneZilla, and Redo.
Both images tested fine. And although I have not tried running a restore test on Clonezill (which I'm sure will...

  17. [all variants] Re: init, init.d, upstart.. trying to understand.

    Hi bab1
Yep, I ran across that upstart-ubuntu.com-cookbook this morning, it didn't make sense to me at first. But I think this might be a good starting point.
At first it seemed like the page was...
  18. [all variants] init, init.d, upstart.. trying to understand.

I'm fairly new to Linux still, and I'm finding the subject of the history of how Linux managed, and now manages initialization. I've read all kinds of sources ,and I understand that the init system...

  20. [lubuntu] Re: apt-get install and remove method - make file?

Hello coldcritter64, Thank you, the good explanation.
I didn't know apt-get downloaded premade .deb packages. When I hear people use the world packages rather then executables as I'm use to in...
  21. [lubuntu] apt-get install and remove method - make file?

Hi. I've been reading all kinds of documents and web sites on apt-get, but there's something I'm not getting. With regard to how an install manager such as apt-get handles it's download packages and...

  23. Re: Clone software for multi OS, Win7 and Lynux

Thanks guys, do they do multiple mixed partitions? I didn't see any mention of that on their features page. Like if you have an NTFS partition and another with EXT4?

I'd still like to know what...
  24. Re: Clone software for multi OS, Win7 and Lynux

Sorry to bump this, but I'm getting the same errors as about 100 other people and don't know enough to make heads or tails out of any of the recommendations.
Note: this is a new install of Lubunu,...
  25. Re: Clone software for multi OS, Win7 and Lynux

    Hi alenis
Would dd handle SSD drives as well as Clonezilla? It seems less involved, and I think the low level approach would capture an identical image of all partitions. But I've never used either...
